Frequently asked questions
The things parents ask us most. If your question isn't here, just get in touch. No question is too small.
Before booking
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly with us, and many families come to us first with a concern. If your child needs anything beyond physiotherapy, we will say so and write to your GP with your permission.
Are you registered and insured?
Yes. Lucy is an HCPC registered physiotherapist (PH142090) and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, which provides her professional liability insurance (arranged through James Hallam). She holds a current enhanced DBS certificate, issued in September 2026.
How do I get started?
Get in touch through the contact page, by phone or by email. Tell us what you have noticed, and we will book a time that suits your family. No referral is needed.
Appointments
What happens at the first appointment?
The initial assessment lasts 90 minutes. We talk through your child's history and your concerns, then assess how they move through play. You leave with a clear explanation, agreed goals and a written summary.
How long will my child need physiotherapy?
It depends entirely on your child. Some concerns settle after a session or two and a home programme; others benefit from regular input over months. We give you an honest estimate at the first appointment and review it as your child progresses.
What should my child wear?
Comfortable clothes that are easy to move in. For babies, a vest or easy layers help us see how they are moving.
Do I stay in the room?
Yes, always. A parent or responsible adult stays present throughout every session. You are part of your child's therapy, never outside the door.
Do you visit schools?
Yes. We regularly deliver sessions in schools and nurseries, and work alongside teachers and SENCOs so everyone supports your child in the same way.
Fees and insurance
Can you help with an EHCP?
Yes. We can provide written evidence for Education, Health and Care plan applications and reviews, describing your child's needs and the provision that would help. EHCP evidence is usually £80 to £120, agreed with you before work begins.
What if my child is unwell or we need to cancel?
We ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or rearrange. Cancellations with less notice, and missed appointments, are charged at the full session fee, and in a treatment block that session is taken from the block. We know children get poorly: one illness-related cancellation per family per year may be waived. The full details are in our cancellation policy.
Do you accept private health insurance?
We are completing registration with AXA Health, Vitality, Aviva, Aetna, WPA and Healix, and this page will be updated as each one goes live. We are not currently able to accept Bupa. In the meantime we provide receipts and any information you need to claim.
Practical
How far do you travel for home visits?
We visit families and schools across North Norfolk, including Brancaster, Burnham Market, Wells-next-the-Sea, Fakenham, Blakeney, Holt, Sheringham, Cromer, Dereham, Aylsham, North Walsham. Travel within 10 miles of North Walsham is included in the visit price; beyond that, extra travel time is charged at £10 for every additional 10 minutes, and we will tell you the total before you book. If you are not sure whether we reach you, just ask.
